Today, women who took part in the struggle for American independence have been "discovered." And not only by historians. This exchange, once enjoyed primarily in women's studies classes, seemed destined to remain an inside story until about 30 years ago when a new generation of feminist scholars brought Abigail and her Revolutionary War sisters out from the shadows.
